Holiday Photos
We have been taking family photos since me and Q met! And even since it was just Zoey and me. I love having them each year and I love picking out the clothes for them and I love seeing each year how the kids have grown and just how the size of our family in general has grown. I am a thousand percent picture taker any moment any time, a part of that is just the world we live in now of social media. Q is always also saying put down your phone and just enjoy the moment. Which I completely agree with but I also love being able to look at old photos and remember that moment or that event. Plus when I am old, grey, and my memory is mush I can look at pictures to remind me of everything! My amazing lovely sister is a photographer so the last two years when she has visited us for Thanksgiving she has done our family pictures. If you are looking for some good outfit ideas I have put together a few selections of outfits higher end and budget friendly! Plus where you can get the looks from our family photo.
Girl Outfits
The girls love love love some shimmer and sparkle so these are some of my favorites I found for younger girl style. I love to sometimes do a plain dress with a pop like a metallic or glittery shoe. I also love mixing patterns some people might not be for that but I love it! Doing a gingham dress with the metallic shoe. For our pictures I also usually do something in the same color families, this year navy was our staple color and then we went from there. Also I tend to pick my outfit first and then go from there! The one dress Quinn is wearing in green is Old Navy and is from a used clothing store and Charleigh’s is from Old Navy this year but the navy color seems to be out of stock and the rose pink one seems to be the only one available, but I would also check your local store to see if they have it!
Boy (Tomboy for my Zo) Outfits
Zoey loves comfy clothes! Always has and I fully believe letting my kids wear what they feel comfortable in for pictures otherwise it feels forced. Only thing I force is smiles :) And I like picking clothes that they can wear for pictures and then wear again for school or something else. Otherwise doesn’t feel worth my money to buy it.
Baby Boy Outfits
I love shopping for my Yasi baby! But I think Q enjoys it even more. It is so much fun dressing him up in little man clothes, especially with it being his first Thanksgiving and then his first real Christmas. This was also his first family photo, last year he was the reason I got to hide how much food I really ate last Thanksgiving, and now it is already about to be his first birthday! A big helpful thing for buying baby seasonal clothes, go find your closest used kids consignment shop! That first Christmas pajamas or that cute Thanksgiving turkey outfit looks that exact same from the consignment shop, and sometimes you can find them brand new and a quarter of the price. Yasi’s shirt was also not available on Zara anymore but the collar-less blue shirt is the closest one they still had online, again check your closest store to see if they have it!
Women Outfits
I wear leggings/sweatpants/sweatshirts 95% of the time so holiday photos you better believe I have hair nails and makeup done, plus something fancy on! It is my one time to possibly look like a human so I take it and run with it. This year I really wanted something navy so I was starter person and we went from there for picking everyone else in the family outfits out. The skirt I found was originally from Nordstrom and I happened to be at Old Navy one day and saw an almost identical skirt and I liked it even a little better for 50% off and got it for like $10 cause it was also the last one left the associate told me (the suede one was the closest one I could find that they still had at the store!) I was so happy and definitely something I would wear again. I also really wanted to do a red lip and red nail to add a pop of holiday color and went for it and loved the way the whole outfit came together! So fellow legging mamas go for it!!! Get dressed up for the picture, makes me feel better and just always nice to look back at each year for pictures.
Men Outfits
To be honest I was blessed with a man who can dress himself! And yes it is a blessing cause I find nothing enjoyable about dressing a grown man. So I did not link any of other options because I wouldn’t know where to start. I did link the sweatshirt he wore and a pair of sweatpants that were similar to what he wore, to be honest again you might shit yourself if you knew how much Q’s shoes and sweatpants are. He doesn’t shop for a lot but the pieces he does own are hefty price tag but great quality and he will make them last!
